New Bay Bridge East Span: Splay Chamber

The Splay Chamber inside the new Bay Bridge is about to be sealed. The chamber is where the 137 strands that comprise the bridge's only cable, are securely locked down forever. The Splay Chamber is key to the span's ability to hold its 77.6 million ton weight. Our Mark Jones says getting to the Splay Chamber is an expedition.
