September is Transit Month in the Bay Area, and Saturday, Sept. 16 is All Aboard Bay Area Transit Day. MTC and transit partners are challenging residents to take as many transit trips as they desire that day to beat last year’s ridership numbers.

The transit agencies will tally up the total ridership for the day and report out if the ridership numbers exceeded the Saturday, September 17, 2022 ridership, which was the highest ridership of a Saturday in September during Transit Month 2022.

The easiest and fastest way to get on board Bay Area transit is with Clipper® – the Bay Area’s all-in-one transit card. Load Clipper funds to your smart phone or purchase a Clipper card for your purse or wallet.

Bay Area Transit Month spotlights the work done by transit agencies to keep people in the Bay Area moving – to work, to school and to favorite recreational places – all while cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions.

MTC is the presenting sponsor of Transit Month. Visit TransitMonth.org to learn contests and prizes, a San Francisco Ride-Along and Rally with the Mayor and Board of Supervisors, a Rider First Awards Ceremony, and many other transit-themed regional activities.

Transit Month activities cover every transit agency in the Bay Area and raise awareness about the importance of keeping the region moving. MTC is proud to partner with San Francisco Transit Riders, Seamless Bay Area, and other transit-focused agencies and organizations throughout the Bay Area.
