Bay Bridge East Span Tower Elevator Installed

The 520 foot SAS tower of the new Bay Bridge East Span is difficult to climb. Imagine climbing a ladder 30 stories tall. That's not practical to do maintainance, hauling gear up and down, for the bridge's expected 150 year lifespan. So now that the bridge is providing seismic safety for the public, crews are installing an elevator that will deliver gear and workers up and down the the tower's four legs.
