Starting at the end of July through October, BART will be closing the tracks between Glen Park and Daly City stations on multiple weekends to make vital repairs to tracks, including adding sound dampening equipment on the curved trackway to reduce noise from the trains for passengers and nearby residents. Balboa Park Station will also be closed, so that crews can perform needed tree trimming along the track.

Please plan ahead for the weekend track closures on

  • July 30 & 31
  • August 13 & 14
  • August 20 & 21
  • September 3, 4, & 5 (Labor Day Weekend)
  • September 17 & 18
  • October 1 & 2
  • October 15 & 16

Passengers can expect to experience 20-40 minute delays during travel, and passengers in the SFO/Millbrae direction should add one hour to their trip. SamTrans will provide free express shuttle buses between Daly City and Glen Park stations. The bus ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency will also provide a free local shuttle for the three closed stations and additional regular paid service on the J Church, 14R Mission Rapid, 14 Mission, and 49 Mission-Van Ness lines that provide service to BART stations.

On those weekends, Richmond trains (Red Line) heading to San Francisco will end at Montgomery Station. Pittsburg/Bay Point trains (Yellow Line) headed to San Francisco will end at Glen Park, and Dublin trains headed to San Francisco (Blue Line) will end at 24th and Mission. Passengers headed to Daly City or SFO/Millbrae will have to make transfers to other trains to get to Glen Park in order to take the shuttles to Daly City station. On Sundays, the Red Line will not be in service between Richmond and Montgomery stations. On Saturdays, there will be no direct Fremont to Daly City (Green Line) service, only regular Orange Line service, so passengers travelling to San Francisco and to the peninsula will have to transfer, as well.

At Daly City, there will be trains to/from Millbrae and trains to/from SFO. Passengers will need to follow signs and directions from BART employees to board the correct train.

Caltrain service will run as normal, and passengers traveling along the peninsula are encouraged to take Caltrain as an alternative.

Crews will be working 24 hours a day during the shutdown to make BART a smoother and quieter experience for passengers. For more information, please visit the BART website.
