Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) System Strategic Plan: Executive Summary (PDF)

About 25 percent of Bay Area motorists who drive across the region’s seven state-owned toll bridges use FasTrak™ ETC transponders that enable them to pass through toll booths without stopping. To encourage greater usage, the plan recommends increasing the number of dedicated ETC lanes, and re-establishing a discount program for ETC users. A marketing program to make the public aware of the ETC system also is recommended.
